Construction of Annex building for the Ángel F. Rivera
Documentation Center and Parking Area

• Purpose: The Ángel F. Rivera Documentation Center represents one component of the PRPBC’s digitalization plan. From a digital environment, the Documentation Center represents a strategic solution that looks to integrate information systems and access, regulation, cataloging, climate-controlled vaults and preservation of the PRPBC’s four archives: Historic Archive, Radio Archive, News Archive and the Video Library. The materials grouped in these archives are helpful resources in the production of new radio and television content, and also have a potential for re-programming in a multi-channel environment.
  

  º The construction project consists of an annex that will house the Ángel F. Rivera Documentation Center’s facilities and a parking area with space for 73 vehicles. The total construction area is 8,727 square feet.
  º The Annex has two stories:

  º The first floor houses the following areas:

  • Administrative areas for the four audiovisual archives: Historic Archive, Radio Archive, Video Library and News Archive.
  • Office space for 9 employees
  • Conservation and reproduction unit. This space will accommodate up to 4 technicians.
  • Multiple use room/theatre with capacity for 80 people.
  
  
  • The basement will house the climate-controlled vault.
    The environmental conditions for this space have been determined at 60º F./ 50% HR. The storage capacity is for 50,000 Beta Digital videotapes. This space takes care of storage needs for the next fifteen years and also provides space for servers.
    
    
  • Total construction area: 8,727 square feet for four archives and a semi-underground vault.
    • Projection room – multiple use room for 60 people.
